William DiFilippo, M.D.
William DiFilippo graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine in June 1988. He proceeded to secure an internship position in general surgery in Brooklyn, NY. This followed a career shift in 1991 to study and train in Internal Medicine. His Internal Medicine training began at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ in January 1991. He served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine from 1993-1994. In July 1994, Dr. DiFilippo began subspecialty training in Nephrology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ.
In July 1996, Dr. DiFilippo began his private practice Nephrology career. First in Clarksburg, WV then in New Hartford, NY. This covered a span of approximately 10 years. In December 2006, Dr. DiFilippo began his academic career at Geisinger Health System in Danville, PA. He subsequently served as program director for two separate Nephrology fellowship programs and one Internal Medicine residency training program. He has served as faculty at Temple University School of Medicine, Albert Einstein School of Medicine, West Virginia School of Medicine, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, SUNY Upstate School of Medicine, LECOM-Greensburg, Ohio State University School of Medicine, Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine. He has conducted clinical research on both the regional and national levels, specific to his subspecialty area of clinical interest: Resistant Hypertension. Finally, he has served as Medical Director at three of the national dialysis providers in the United States.
Dr. DiFilippo brings his experience and knowledge to the region to provide clinical care to the patients we serve. His work philosophy is rooted in his belief that the art of medicine is a privilege to which he has been blessed to provide to others, always in the hope of making a positive difference in the lives of his patients. Dr. DiFilippo has raised three children, Bill, Stephanie, and Nicole. They are his greatest achievements.
